Director Health inaugurates National De-worming Day at Srinagar

SRINAGAR, MARCH 20: Director Health Services Kashmir, Dr Kunzas  Dolma today inaugurated the National Deworming Day by administering  Albendazole tablets among Mohammadiya Yateem Trust  students at a function held at Public Health Centre, Chanapora, Srinagar.

Speaking on the occasion, Director Health Services Kashmir said that 5,74,000 children shall be administered the tablets in schools and anganwadi centers. She informed the children in between the age group 1-5 years shall be administered tablets in anganwadi centers, while as the children in between age group 5-19 shall be administered Albendazole tablets in schools.  She also said we shall create sensitivity in the society and make public aware about the ill effects of worms like Hookworm, Whipworm and Roundworm.

Chief Medical Officer , Srinagar,  Dr Talat Jabeen  said on this day all children between the age group 1-19 years shall be administered the Albendazole tablets free of cost in all schools and anganwadi centers. She also said children who could not be dewormed on 20th march shall be administered the tablets on mop up day 26th march 2019.

To avoid worm infection, Dr Ibraheem advised students never do defecate in open, use toilets, wash your hands with soap especially before eating and after using toilet.

Assistant Director Health Services Kashmir, Divisional Nodal Officer and other health officers were present in the function.
