Prioritize selection of 3000 Rehber-e-Khel: HC to Govt
Srinagar, Mar 14: The J&K High Court Thursday directed the government to prioritize the selection process of 3000 Rehber-e-Khel in the state.
A division bench of the High Court hearing a petition on the deficiency of required infrastructure and human resource in the sports sector in the state directed the authorities to prioritize the selection process of 3000 Rehber-e-Khel and place on record the time-frame for overcoming the lack of infrastructure in the sector.
The court directed the Youth Services and Sports department to examine the response filed by advocate Ateeb Kantha, amicus curie, and file the reply by next date of hearing.
The court further directed all the concerned government agencies to conduct a joint meeting in order to sort out the problem of the lack of basic facilities in the sports sector in the state.
It further directed the authorities to utilize the water-bodies in the state for different kinds of aquatic sports events. It asked the court-appointed Committee of Experts for Dal Lake to inform the court about the possibilities for creating sports activities in the lake.
The court was informed that in terms of its order, visits were conducted by the concerned officers to Bakshi Stadium and Indoor Stadium in Srinagar.
“Creation of quality sports infrastructure in both the stadia is underway and also the funds are available with the concerned departments. The funds will be strictly utilized for upgradation of infrastructure for sports activities,” the officials informed the court through their counsel Shah Aamir.
