Interactive training program between extension workers and scientist held

Dir Agri stresses on value addition of crops for increased market value

BUDGAM, MARCH 09: To enhance the efficiency and capacity building of extension workers, a day-long interactive training program between scientists and extension workers of the district Budgam was held at meeting hall Budgam.

The program organized under Agriculture Technology Management Agency (ATMA) scheme and was inaugurated by Director Agriculture Kashmir Syed Altaf Aijaz Andrabi.

While addressing the participants the director said that professional endeavor must be carried to the farmers fields and latest technologies may be passed on to the farmers so that the farming community can move forward towards the enhancement of their production and sustainable Agriculture.

Andrabi stressed upon the extension workers to work in such a way that farmers are converted into commercial growers. He stressed for production of high value vegetable crops on a definite cropping pattern as per the demand in the market. He also stressed for value addition of the crops for increasing their shelf life and market value.

The director directed the extension workers to see the impact of the technologies transferred to the fields and identify the success stories and deficiencies at the grass root level.

Chief Agriculture Officer Budgam stressed upon extension functionaries to work in a campaigning mode to transfer the modern technologies to the farmers and address the issues of farmers for taking Agriculture forward on modern lines and raising the economic status of farmers.

Besides others, the training programme was attended by Joint Director Agriculture Inputs Deepak  Kumar Kuchroo, Project Coordinator Mushrooms Avinash Chander Peer,  other senior officers and scientists of district Budgam.
