2 persons arrested for murder in Uri

Baramulla, Mar 07: Police on Thursday arrested two persons for allegedly murdering their cousin over land dispute in the frontier border town of Uri in north Kashmir district of Baramulla.

Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) said that Police Station Uri received a written complaint from one Naseema Begum stating that her husband Mohammad Din Chechi  of Garkote Uri, while working in his fields, had some scuffle with his cousins over the fencing of his land.

The complainant also alleged that her husband was attacked by his cousins, identified as Mir Mohammad Chechi and Manzoor Ahmad Chechi, with some metallic tools, resulting in injuries to him.

SSP further said that a case under FIR No. 17/2019 under relevant sections was registered in Police Station Uri and investigation was initiated.

“The injured person succumbed to his injuries at SKIMS Srinagar and section 302 RPC was accordingly added in the case. The dead body after medico-legal formalities has been handed over to legal heirs for last rites,” the SSP added.

The accused persons (cousins of the deceased) have been arrested and further investigation in the case is going on.

“During the course of investigation, the relevant circumstantial and material evidences were collected from the scene of crime. Moreover, weapon of offence was also seized from the spot,” the police said.
