DGP grants scholarship for 25 wards of slain cops

JAMMU, MARCH 01: Director General of Police, J&K, Dilbag Singh granted rupees over 1.85 lakh scholarship in favour of 25 wards of police personnel, who laid down their lives in violence/ militancy related incidents in the State.

Rupees Twelve Thousand each have been sanctioned for three wards who are pursuing Masters Degree and Rupees Ten Thousand each have been sanctioned for eight wards studying in Higher Secondary or pursuing Graduation level courses. Similarly Rupees Six Thousand each have been sanctioned in favour of ten wards studying in middle/secondary classes. Rupees Twenty-Four Hundred each have been sanctioned for four wards of police personnel studying in primary/pre-nursery classes.

“The amount has been sanctioned out of Central Police Education Fund for the academic year 2017-18. The scholarships are granted every year for the school going children of police martyrs to provide them assistance in pursuing education,” a police spokesman said.
