Ganderbal, Feb 26: The football playground located in Sandibal village of central Kashmir’s Ganderbal presents a grim picture of poor sports infrastructure in the district.

Amateur footballers in Ganderbal said that the ground is venue for the district football league matches. “The matches are often postponed because of dilapidated condition of the ground. We are being compelled to play in the mud.  The surface of playground is also uneven and few minutes of rain inundate it,” they added

One of the local football coaches in Ganderbal said, “Authorities are taking no steps to improve conditions of the playground.  Government had sanctioned a synthetic football playground in Ganderbal but no progress has been made in this regard so far.”

President Football Association Ganderbal, Bashir Dar, said: “We cannot afford to maintain the playground ourselves. If Jammu and Kashmir Football Association and Sports Council will assist us only then we can improve condition of playground.”
