Crackdown absolute political vengeance: Jama’at-e-Isalmi

Srinagar: Jama’at-e-Islami Jammu and Kashmir has denounced the ongoing arrest spree by police and other forces across the valley and has termed it ‘murder of democracy’ and appealed Human Rights Groups, United Nations Organization and OIC to intervene and use their influence to stop the lawlessness at the hands of forces.

In a statement issued today, a spokesman of Jama’at said: “The state government while misusing its power is trying to appease BJP and other communal forces and have unleashed atmosphere of terror across the valley wherein hundreds of young and old having religious tilt have been detained under baseless grounds.”

The spokesman said that since past two days police have arrested hundreds of Jama’at members including its top brass leadership. On Sunday Jama’at chief Dr Abdul Hameed Fayaz has been produced before District Magistrate Budgam who sent him to central jail Srinagar under judicial custody till 02nd March, 2019. Meanwhile Jama’at’s deputy Chief Moulana Ahmad Ullah Parray (Makki) was also detained by Anantnag police along with famous religious scholar Peer Noor-ud-din. Besides this, dozens of Tehsil leadership from south to north have also been arrested. Moreover police also detained Jamiat Ahle-Hadith deputy Moulana Mushtaq Ahmad Veeri, Moulana Mohammad Maqbool Akhurni and many other religious leaders from different organizations, he said.
