Pulwama Gunfight: DIG South Kashmir injured

Srinagar, Feb 18 : Deputy Inspector General (DIG) of police, south Kashmir Range, Amit Kumar was injured during a gunfight with the militants in Pinglina village of south Kashmir’s Pulwama district on Monday, reports said.

Two militants and four soldiers including an officer were killed and five other soldiers including a Lieutenant Colonel injured during the course of firefight.

A civilian Mushtaq Ahmad Bhat (46) was also killed during the gunfight.

Sources said that there was lull for some time before fresh firing started in which DIG, Amit Kumar was injured and has been hospitalized.

A police officer confirmed to GNS about the injury suffered by the DIG and said that he has received a bullet wound in his left thigh.
