Ready-made garment shop gutted in fire at Chandilora

‘Loss estimated to be worth lacs’

Tangmarg, Feb 11: A Ready-made garment shop was gutted in a mysterious fire incident at Chandilora Tangmarg on Sunday night.

According to local reports, the shop namely “Life Style”, owned by Mohammad Ashraf Teeli S/o Mohammad Ramzan Teeli R/o Ziran, caught fire at around 10:30 pm on Sunday.

Witnesses told Kashmir Images that although the fire service officials along with local residents tried to douse the fire but they failed to do so as the flames went out of control within no time and all the material present inside the shop turned into ashes.

“The owner of the shop has suffered loss worth lacs, as per initial unofficial estimates,” they added.

A police official while confirming the incident said they have registered a case and investigation has been started to figure out what caused the fire in the shop. “The Preliminary inquiry revealed that short circuit led to the fire,” he said.

Meanwhile, the Chandilora traders have appealed the administration of Governor to compensate the shopkeeper who lost everything in the fire incident.
