Industry delegation meets Sharma, discusses issues of Industrial units

Advisor stresses on skill dev to generate more local employment

JAMMU, JANUARY 23:  Advisor to Governor, Kewal Kumar Sharma today stressed the need for skill development among local youth to generate more employment in the industrial sector in the state.

The Advisor said this during a meeting with a delegation of Association of Industries, J&K here today.

Principal Secretary, Industries and Commerce, Shaleen Kabra, Secretary, Technical Education Department Ajeet Kumar Sahu, Commissioner Commercial Taxes, P K Bhat and Director, Industries & Commerce, Jammu, Anoo Malhotra were present on the occasion.

The Advisor stressed on adopting an apprenticeship programme by the industrial sector to generate more skilled local employment. He asked the delegation to specify the list of activities required in the industrial units for apprenticeship. He asked the Secretary, Technical Education to explore the possibilities to introduce extra module of three months and other short term courses in the ITIs to facilitate the requirements of the industries.

Sharma suggested the Technical Education Department and Industries Department to work together towards skill development among the locals that will ultimately generate local employment for the industries.

The Advisor further asked the delegation to consider publishing a periodic Industry or Business journal for the critical analysis of the business scenario in the state.

Earlier, the delegation led by its President, Rattan Dogra put forth several issues of Industries pertaining to incentives in Post GST regime, freight subsidy under 1,000 km, new negative list, budgetary support for existing units under taking additional lines of manufacturing activity, budgetary support to small units and many alike.
