Youth hit by pellets during clashes in Tral

Srinagar, Jan 08: A youth sustained pellet injuries in eyes during clashes with the government forces near Bus Stand in Tral area of south Kashmir’s Pulwama district on Tuesday.

The injured was shifted to SDH Tral where he is under treatment.

Reports said, government forces’ vehicles were coming from Arigam when youths pelted them with stones near Bus Stand Tral.

The forces retaliated by lobbing tear-smoke shells and pellets to disperse the protesting youth.

Earlier, the government forces launched a cordon-and-search-operation (CASO) in Arigam village of the area.

Sources said that Army’s 42 Rashtriya Rifles, police and CRPF launched the joint operation in the area.

They said that massive deployment of forces has been made in the village and house-to-house searches were going on.

An official said that the operation was launched following “specific inputs” about the presence of militants in the area.
