Pulwama, Dec 31: Owner of the under-construction house which was razed to ground during an encounter between government forces and militants on 29th December in Hanjan Payeen village of South Kashmir’s Pulwama district has appealed the government for compensation.

The construction of house was started back on 26th of January, 2018 by Bashir Ahmad Hurra son in law of Ali Mohammad Nengroo at Hanjan village.

The location of the under-construction house is unmotorable and it took Hurra many days of hard labour to bring the construction material at the said location.

“The two-storey under construction house had eight rooms, two bathrooms and a lobby” said elder son of Hurra, Gowhar Ahmad.

“My two brothers, Shabir and Shakir, are shell shocked since our house was raised to the ground and are yet to visit the location where the house lies in ruins,” he said.

“We have spent at least 20 lakh rupees on its construction work and this entire amount came from loans. Two days before the fateful day, the mason had constructed topping of brick layers on the second floor slab of the house and half of the sanitary fitting in bathrooms was still unfinished and half of the sanitary material is lying in the courtyard of the old one story house,” he added.

“We request the Jammu and Kashmir Governor to provide us compensation as it is impossible for me to compensate such a big loss,” said Hurra.
