Handwara: Two shops gutted in fire

Langate, Dec 31: At least two shops were gutted in a fire incident in Quaziabad market of Langate on late Monday night.

The fire broke out in a bicycle mechanic shop at around 3 am on Monday and immediately engulfed the nearby structures.

According to local reports, the police party which was patrolling in the market witnessed the fire and contacted the Fire and Emergency Service Kralgund. The fire service men along with police rushed to the spot and put its men and machinery into action.

“Before the fire could be brought under control, it gutted at least two shops,” said an officer of the Fire and Emergency Services.

The property worth lacs was gutted in the fire. “We want to thank officials of police station Kralgund for providing timely information to fire service department due to which the fire was brought under control before it could incur further damage,” said Mohammad Maqbool Beigh and Abdul Ahad, owners of the shops.

“The reason of fire is being ascertained,” said a police officer.
