CRPF Assistant Commandant from Kashmir dies of ‘electrocution’ in Jharkhand
Srinagar, Jan 1: An Assistant Commandant with CRPF from Uri area of north Kashmir’s Baramulla district died of electrocution at Jharkhand, official sources said on Tuesday.
They said that the Commandant Jeelani Khan (29) of Nanzgam, Boniyar Uri, posted with 157 Battalion died inside CRPF camp at Arki in Khunti district on Monday evening.
An official of CRPF 157 Headquarter at Arki told GNS that the officer was supervising the repair of electric wires when the incident took place.
He said that a live wire fell off as a result of which the officer was electrocuted.
Concerned Station House Officer (SHO) Arki told GNS that the officer was shifted to a hospital in Khunti from where he was referred to Ranchi for specialized treatment.
However, the SHO said, the officer succumbed to injuries on the way.
He said further investigations into the incident has been initiated.
The body has been despatched to his native village for last rites, he said. (GNS)
