Army conducts de-addiction seminar at Uri

Srinagar, Dec 23: Army conducted a drug de-addiction seminar at Chinar 9 Jawan Club, Uri on 21st December 2018, which was attended by over 100 students from the club including the faculty members, a defense spokesman said in a statement issued today.

The spokesman said that the drug abuse has been a major cause of concern in the Valley and has severely affected the young generation in recent times. It, therefore, becomes imperative to educate the youth about the ill effects of drug abuse. The Army has been undertaking consistent efforts to help the civil administration to control this menace and its Drug De-Addiction Centre, (DDC) in Baramulla, has been striving to make the region drug free.

The seminar commenced with an introduction about the Drug De-addiction Centre and the task it is undertaking. Thereafter, a talk on mental health and drug abuse was delivered by the counsellors of Drug De-addiction Centre who warned the youth about the ill effects of Drug Abuse.

All queries of the students were answered by the counsellors during the interactive session, said the spokesman, adding, the seminar was aimed at reaching out to the young minds and in helping them to know about the prevailing drug menace in the society.
