Sarmad Hafeez inaugurates 64th National School Games in Jammu

JAMMU, DECEMBER 20: The 64th National School Games Cricket championship under-19 for Boys commenced today at K.C. Cricket Ground, Jammu.

The championship was inaugurated by Secretary Youth Services & Sports and Information, Sarmad Hafeez.

The tournament is being organized by Youth Services & Sports Department under the aegis of School Games Federation of India.

Speaking on the occasion, Secretary YS&S expressed his happiness for overwhelming participation of 29 teams from all over the country in the games. He said sports play a critical role in personality development and in health and career as well. He enjoined upon the players to play in the true spirit of the game. He assured that every effort shall be made to ensure that the players, as well as managers and coaches, are comfortable during their stay in Jammu.

He said such events provide best opportunity to the youth from across the country to interact with each other and know about varied cultures.

Overall 462 players are participating in the tournament for which five cricket grounds have been arranged.

On the inaugural day today, 10 matches were played.

Bashir Ahmad, Joint Director, YS&S Kashmir, Madan Lal, Joint Director, YS&S Jammu, Principal, K.C. Public School, Observer SGFI, District Youth Services & Sports Officers of the Department and Managers/ Coaches of all the teams were present at the inaugural ceremony.
