Ganderbal, Dec 20: Citizens Welfare Forum Ganderbal (CWFG) today came down heavily on administration of Central University of Kashmir (CUK) in a press conference here.

The forum alleged that the CUK administration is deliberately delaying shifting of CUK campus to designated   Ganderbal site as they have failed to shift the CUK campus to Tulamulla Ganderbal.

In the press conference General Secretary CWFG, Mohamad Maqbool, said, “Central University of Kashmir (CUK) administration is deliberately delaying shifting of the campus from Nowgam, Srinagar to designated site at Ganderbal and the delay has caused large scale apprehensions among the people. It has also resulted in lapse of hundreds of crores of funds meant for development of basic infrastructure at the allotted land in Tulamulla.”

Attacking VC CUK the secretary said, “Despite the decisions taken at various levels from Human Resource Development Ministry to State Government, the University administration particularly Vice Chancellor seems not to be interested in developing infrastructure at Ganderbal site and also not ready to shift the offices and class work from Nowgam, Srinagar which operates from rented buildings.”

The forum also demanded to conduct regular classes in pre-fabricated huts located at Tulamulla site and other places provided by district administration Ganderbal.

It is pertinent to mention here that CUK was established in 2009 and construction work of Campus was started in Tulamulla Ganderbal but after all these years little headway has been made in this regard.

After the protest early this year by Civil Society Ganderbal, the CUK management started shifting few departments to Ganderbal early this year; however most of the academic departments are still functioning from rented accommodation at Nowgam and Srinagar.

State government earlier this year had said that the land at the CUK’s Tulamulla campus was marshy, but later on MHRD comprising of an expert from IIT showed thumps up for two storey construction.
