CGPWA celebrates National Pensioners’ Day

Sharma appeals veterans to utilize their valuable wisdom for public good

JAMMU, DECEMBER 17: Advisor to Governor, Kewal Kumar Sharma today appealed the veterans from various fields to utilize their valuable wisdom and lifelong experience to advance the interests of the people.

He was addressing participants here at a function organized by Central Government Pensioners’ Welfare Association (CGPWA) J&K, Jammu to mark the 36th National Pensioners’ Day.

The Advisor complimented the Association for running an organization which looks after the interest of the pensioners and senior citizens and actively carries out varied activities of social welfare.

He urged the Association to utilize its valuable collective wisdom and lifelong experience of its members to serve as a vital element in the society to advance the interests of the people at large.

Sharing his vision for sustained development of Jammu and Kashmir, the Advisor said that the State has huge potential for solar energy and efforts will be made to tap it in a big way. He said the Governor’s administration is putting best possible efforts towards its development.

The Advisor also interacted with the pensioners and senior citizens present on the occasion.

Responding to the demand for providing concession to Central Government Pensioners, the Advisor asked the   CGPWA to submit a list of demand in this regard.

President, CGPWA, S S Wazir presented the welcome address and highlighted the activities of the association and its future plans for welfare of the society.  He also gave a brief background of the Pensioners’ Day. He said the Association represents pensioners of 34 Central Government Departments/Ministries including All India Services viz. IAS, IPS and IFS.

General Secretary, CGPWA, JK Vaid conducted the proceedings of the function and briefed the gathering on the latest welfare initiatives taken by the Department of Pension and Pensioners’ Welfare, New Delhi, besides new initiatives by Government of India, including introduction of digital mode of transparent transactions.

K B Jandial briefed the gathering on the latest developments in Central Government Health Scheme (CGHS) in J&K and its beneficiaries. He said that with concerted efforts of the association, SMVDNSH Kakryal has been empanelled under CGHS with cashless facility and a new CGHS Wellness Centre sanctioned for Srinagar.

Noted Geologist and Environmentalist, V P Sharma delivered an informative talk on Environment, Culture and protection of the environment observing traditional customs and social rules.

Scientist and SUJOK therapy expert, Dr KK Sharma gave a short briefing on the medicine less therapy.

Medical Professional, Dr K C Sharma gave a brief success story of Summer Apple – Harman 99, cultivation of which he has been promoted in hot climate of Jammu and other places across the country. A book titled “Duggar Heritage Societies”- an introduction to innovative and creative people was also presented to the Advisor by Dr KC Sharma.

Vice President, CGPWA, BK Raina presented vote of thanks.

Earlier, the Advisor planted a Sapling of Summer Apple – Harman 99 in the premises of the Jammu Club.

The function was attended by a large number of association members and special invitees from various organizations of State Government pensioners besides eminent social activists
