Srinagar: Jammu Kashmir Liberation Front (JKLF) has condemned the spree of arrests, nocturnal raids and other oppressive measures ‘to stop peaceful march towards Badami-bagh cantonment on 17th December 2018’.

In a statement issued today, a JKLF spokesman termed ‘the spree of arrests and nocturnal raids by police and forces as most undemocratic.”

“From yesterday evening police has launched a cleansing operation throughout Kashmir valley, Chenab and Pir-Panjal areas. Police raided the house of JKLF senior zonal vice president Muhammad Yasin Butt and took him into custody. He has been detained at police station Nigeen. JKLF zonal president Noor Muhammad Kalwal is already in police custody and was yesterday shifted to Kothi-bagh Police station. Police today also arrested JKLF vice chairman Showkat Ahmad Bakshi and lodged him at police station Kothi-bagh,” the spokesman said.

The spokesman said that in a bid to arrest JKLF chairman Muhammad Yasin Malik, Police yesterday evening raided the residence of some of his friends and well-wishers.
