Gunfight broke out in Sopore outskirts

Sopore, Dec 12: Gunfight broke out in Brath Kalan village of north Kashmir’s Sopore between militants and government forces on Wednesday evening.

Sources said a joint team of Army’s 22RR, SOG and CRPF launched cordon and search operation in Brath Kalan following inputs about the presence of some militants in the area.

As the joint team of forces approached the suspected house, the hiding militants opened fire, triggering an encounter.

As per reports two to three militants were believed to be trapped.

Intermittent firing was going on while this report was being written.

Meanwhile mobile Internet has been suspended as a “precautionary measure” in Sopore.
