Srinagar: Chairman Tehreek-e-Hurriyat, Mohd Ashraf Sehrai, has thanked people from Iran, Iraq, Lebanon, Yemen, Syria, Nigeria and many Kashmiris, who were part of the Arba’een walk and staged silent protest against the “oppression in Kashmir” terming it as a ‘tremendous show of solidarity’ with Kashmiri people. In Kerbala and Najaf millions of people, particularly Sias’s, gather for Arba’een walk every year to commemorate the martyrdom of Hazrat Hussain (RA).

In a press release issued here Sehrai said that there were social, political and religious factors that made Imam Hussain (RA) rise to challenge ‘Yazid’ and one of the key factors was the violation of the principles of Humanity. “The way people shared our pain and raised their voice in our support is commendable and such advocacy to the subjugated Kashmiri people is very encouraging and it has added new life to the freedom sentiment of the people of our nation,” he said adding that lakhs of people during this holy pilgrimage journey demonstrated and displayed play cards in favour of Kashmiris and paying tributes to the ‘valiant struggle’ of Kashmiri people. “This was meant to convey to the world in emphatic terms that Muslim Ummah will never leave their oppressed Kashmiri brothers and sisters alone in their just struggle, come what may,” Sahrai added.

Sahrai further added that since last 30 years Kashmiris were witnessing repetition of Karbala and everday was “Aashur” while every occupied inch of land is “Karbala”.  “For us ‘Karbala’ never passes away as we have to face “Yazidiyat” every day,” he said  adding that,Imam Hussain (RA) and his associates while sacrificing their precious lives, conveyed that believers should in no way hesitate to offer sacrifices and support  in order to save human beings from oppression and suppression.

He also appealed the whole Muslim world to shun political, strategic and economic expediencies and to continue their support to Kashmir particularly when people are facing worst kind of ‘outrageous atrocities by Indian occupational forces’. He also appealed the world community to highlight the plights of Kashmiri people on every occasion and not to restrict ‘solidarity’ to mere symbolic gesture, which, he added, only encouraged ‘brutal occupational forces’ to further, intensify and inflict more ‘atrocities’, ‘suppression’ and ‘barbarism’ on ‘Innocent defenseless Kashmiris’.
