Swasth Bharat Yatra flagged off at Sopore

BARAMULLA, OCTOBER 29: A part of the national campaign “Eat Right India” started by the Union Ministry of Health and Family Welfare, which aimed at sensitizing people about eating safe food and be healthy, “Swasth Bharat Yatra”, comprising about 30 cyclists was today flagged off by District Social Welfare Officer Syed Showket Ahmad.

Pertinently, the Food Safety and Standards Authority of India (FSSAI) is leading the campaign wherein about 7500 cyclists are participating in about 18000km cycle rally travelling across every state of the country over 100 days to propagate a powerful message of  “Eat Right India”. The Cyclathon which started on 16 October will culminate in the national capital on 27 January 2019.

On the occasion, Syed Showket said that the campaign will mobilize the people and will create sensitization among them about healthy food habits. He highlighted the importance of eating healthy and safe food and said that it will help to improve the health standard besides curbing food adulteration. Moreover, he sought active cooperation of all stakeholders to achieve the goals of the campaign.

Among others, Assistant Commissioner Food Safety Aijaz Iqbal, Food Safety Officer Sopore Mubashir Hasan, Administrator MET Sopore Ghulam Ahmad Bacha and various other concerned were present on the occasion.
