Srinagar, Oct 25: Normal life was affected though partially in Kashmir on Thursday due to a strike called by separatists to protest the killing of scholar-turned-militant Sabzar Ahmad Sofi and his associate in an encounter with government forces on Wednesday.

Shops and schools remained closed in the Valley due to the strike called by separatist Joint Resistance Leadership (JRL) comprising Syed Ali Shah Geelani, Mirwaiz Umar Farooq and Mohammad Yasin Malik. However, the authorities went ahead with the annual Board exams of Class 12th, Class 9th, and Class 8th students and huge rush of people could be seen accompanying their wards to and from exams centres set up in various educational institutions.
