Srinagar, Oct 9:  Chaired by party’s vice- president Abdul Rahman Veeri, a high level meeting of general secretaries, district presidents and senior leaders of Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) was held on Tuesday at the party headquarters here.

According to party spokesman, the meeting discussed threadbare the issues being confronted by the people and measures needed to be taken to further strengthen the party at the grass roots.

Furthermore, views and suggestions from the party functionaries were taken over the party’s future course of action and issues that merit party leadership’s immediate and thorough attention.

The leaders present in the meet emphasised upon the fact that the party’s prime objective is to protect the special position of the state and to foil any attempt aimed at the dilution of special position being accorded to Jammu and Kashmir.

Addressing the meet, party’s vice-president Abdul Rahman Veeri stated that the PDP founder Mufti Mohammad Sayeed stood up against all odds to secure a better tomorrow for state’s younger generation and that the masses all across the state have been guiding the PDP to shun the path of comfort and not to substitute words for actions. He added that the party every day takes pledge to fight for the betterment of the people of the state and never allow anyone to barter the interests of Jammu and Kashmir against petty power.

Veeri also underscored the major achievements witnessed by the PDP led government in the state,  remarking that Jammu and Kashmir witnessed the new era of equitable development.  He added that from taking measures for regularising 60 thousand daily wagers to making fast track recruitments, from making the availability of ration to the people in abundance to opening of the closed power corridors for the people, the PDP remained in a forefront to honour the commitments it has made with the people since its foundation.
