Nine injured in shopping complex fire

Baramulla, Sep 16: At least nine people were injured in a fire which broke out in a shopping complex in Uri Baramulla on Sunday, officials said.

All of them were rushed to a hospital, they said.

The fire broke out in a shopping complex (Lone complex) in Uri market this afternoon following a leak in the cooking gas cylinder, an official of Fire and Emergency Services department said.

Nine people, who were helping the police and Fire and Emergency Services personnel sustained minor injuries, he said.

The injured persons were identified as Mohammad Abdulla Lone , Ajaz Ahmed Kali, Faqir Ahmed, residents of Uri town; Mohammad Hafiz Sheikh of Jabla, Raqib Ahmed  of Bandi Uri, Abdul Majid of Sukhdar, Abdul Ganai Shiekh of Nambla, Bashir Ahmed of Gingle and Khurshid Ahmed of Boniyar.

The injured persons were rushed to Sub District Hospital Uri, from where seven were referred to District Hospital Baramulla for the specialized treatment.

Fire tenders were rushed to the spot and the blaze was brought under control, the official said.

Two shops and a residential quarter were damaged in the fire, he added.
