Nursing students protest for colleague’s release

Srinagar, Sep 15: Scores of nursing students on Saturday staged a protest in Srinagar to demand release of their classmate Muhammad Iqbal who has been detained for allegedly accompanying three militants killed in the Jammu gunfight on September 13.

Iqbal, according to the police, was detained on September 12 from a truck in which three militants of Jaish-e-Muhammad were travelling before being killed in a gunfight a day later.

The students said that Iqbal is a 4th year student of B Sc. Nursing at SKIMS was travelling to Jammu to seek an appointment with a doctor for his ailing father.

Iqbal, a resident of Futlipora village in Pakherpora area of Budgam, last attended his class on September 09, they said.
