Srinagar, Sep 15: The higher reaches of Kashmir valley experienced the season’s first snowfall on Saturday.

An official said the higher reaches of the Valley, including Zojila pass (11600 ft high altitude), Drass and Minamarg, on Srinagar -Leh highway received fresh spell of light snowfall on Saturday morning.

The 434-km long Srinagar-Leh highway however was open for traffic despite the mild snowfall, he said.

Upper reaches in north Kashmir including the Apharwat mountain overlooking Gulmarg also received mild snowfall.

Snowfall in upper reaches and rains in the plains brought down temperatures considerably in Srinagar and elsewhere.
