Hurriyat-G stages protest against ‘mysterious killings’

Srinagar, September 14: All Parties Hurriyat Conference on Friday organized protest march against what it called as “the recent hike in selective, mysterious and custodial killing of political activists, scholars and intellectuals at the hands of Indian agencies and incarcerating of innocent people including journalists, students and political activists on fictitious grounds.”

In a statement issued here, the APHC Chairman said, “The protestors chanting slogans to stop innocent killings, custodial killings and incarceration of youth, were demanding intervention of United Nations Human Rights Commission to take serious cognizance of the grass violation of human rights in Jammu and Kashmir.”

“The protestors, while marching towards the main chowk Hyderpora, displayed the placards and banners written in urdu and English to highlight their demands to safeguard their political and civil rights with reference to the movement for right to self-determination,” reads the statement.

“Senior members of Majlis Shoora and other representatives who participated in the protest march include Molvi Bashir Irfani, Mohammad Yousuf Naqash, Nisar Hussain Rather, Bilal Sidiqui, Bashir Ahmad Indrabi, Khawaja Firdous Wani, Hamid Ilahi, Mohammad Maqbool Magami, Mohammad Hanif Dar, Arshad Aziz Shah, Mohammad Shafi Budgami in addition to hundreds of youth and other activists,” the statement added.

“Indian policy of suppression and repression in Jammu and Kashmir has failed to yield any positive results for India. Through the elongated period of ordeal and barbarism since 1947, India is currently facing a powerful people’s political movement for right to self-determination in every nook and corner of the state of Jammu and Kashmir,” Hurriyat Secretary Public Relations, Molvi Bashir Irfani was quoted as saying in the statement.
