Minimal access surgery-live operative workshop held in District Hospital Baramulla

Baramulla: First of its kind a successful live operative workshop was held at District Hospital Baramulla in which 4 stapled haemorrhoidopexy ( MIPH ) surgeries were performed on Wednesday.

Surgeries were performed by guest faculty Dr H Vaqar Ahmed Head Minimal Access Surgery JLNM Hospital and Sr. Minimal Access Surgeon Directorate Health Services Kashmir Dr Akther Ganaie, assisted by the team of doctors, operation theatre staff of District Hospital Baramulla.

The health workshop was organized by the Medical Superintendent District Hospital Baramulla Dr. Syed Masood who provided all logistic support and was largely appreciated by the district administration and civil society Baramulla. The procedures were demonstrated to the Surgeons from other hospitals of Directorate Health Services Kashmir where a live and interactive discussion and demonstration took place.

Earlier while inaugurating the workshop Dr. Syed Masood Medical Superintendent District Hospital Baramulla said, “MIPH is a Minimal Access Procedure for piles which gives less Post Operative pain and patient is able to return to his routine work earlier”.

He further said, “The workshop is a part of the policy of Directorate Health Services Kashmir to make all surgeons of the Directorate aware and train them to pass on the benefits of Minimal Access Surgery to the common masses of the state”.
