In Karnah, Rice Blast damages 75% of paddy

Tangdhar Karnah: Rice-blast which has reportedly damaged almost 75% of the paddy crop in Karnah area and has also impacted vegetables including tomato, brinjal, bottle gourd etc.
Karnah is known for its paddy crop. In densely populated areas extending from Hajinar to Teetwal and from Lountha Tangdhar to to Sadhpora village, paddy is grown as a major crop.
Deputations from across Karnah valley, reported that the department of Agriculture in Karnah has not shown a remarkable performance in the field.
“No awareness programmes have been conducted and the department failed to provide necessary chemical sprays to overcome rice blast in the said areas,” said farmers.
People say that agriculture department should be held responsible for this devastation as it failed to provide better seeds in the initial stage and chemical sprays from time to time.
The farmers demanded compensation for the damages.
The worst sufferers are the farmers from Kandi, Khwarpara, Lountha, Sharthpalla, Tangdhar, Gomal, Suleiman, Nowpora, Baghbella, Hajinar, Nechian and Shamspora, reports said.
