Legal Metrology Dept penalizes Stationery Firm for unfair trade practices
SRINAGAR, SEPTEMBER 05: After receiving public complaints that the original label on the packages of rubber bands manufactured/packed by M/s Atul Paper Pvt. Ltd. Delhi carrying an MRP of Rs 33/- has been hidden by a sticker and new MRP of Rs 45/- was given on the sticker. The field executives of Legal Metrology Department raided the premises of several Stationery dealers and found the complaint genuine.
The rubber band packages were found also deficient in mandatory declarations like e-mail address. Besides the packages were carrying gross weight instead of net weight.
The Legal notice was served to the firm and the firm in response confessed the lapses. A penal sum of Rs 25000/- was slapped on the firm for these short comings.
