Army pays tributes to slain soldier
Srinagar: Army today paid tributes to Late Rifleman Nehal Gurung who got killed in the line of duty on 25 Aug 2018 in Keran sector of Kupwara district.
A defense spokesman in a statement issued here said that in a solemn ceremony at BB Cantt, Lt Gen AK Bhatt, Chinar Corps Commander and all ranks, paid homage to the martyr on behalf of a proud nation.
“In a show of solidarity, representatives from other security agencies also joined in to pay their last respects to the martyr,” said the spokesman.
Late Rifleman Ram Nehal Gurung sustained fatal injuries in the line of duty as part of the counter infiltration grid at Keran sector, Kupwara district. He was provided immediate first aid and evacuated to the 92 Base Hospital where he succumbed to his injuries.
“The martyr, Rifleman Nehal Gurung, was 22 years old and had joined the Army in 2014. He belonged to Village Khagrohre of Kathua District, Jammu and is survived by his mother,” said the spokesman.
The mortal remains were flown for last rites to Kathua, Jammu, where he would be laid to rest with full military honours.
“In this hour of grief, the Army stands in solidarity with the bereaved family of the martyr and remains committed to their dignity and well being,” added the spokesman.
