Forces vandalize property, thrash people; detain civilian during night raid at Ichgam Budgam
Ichgam (Budgam), Aug 26: Government forces on Sunday allegedly vandalised many houses and damaged vehicles in central Kashmir’s Ichgam village, besides detaining a civilian during nocturnal raid.
Villagers told ‘Kashmir Images’ that at around 1 am, forces barged into their houses and resorted to vandalism. “Army and SOG personnel’s broke window panes of residential houses, beat people and detained a civilian,” they alleged, adding that even window panes of masjid were also smashed.
The incident happened only a day after when unknown gunmen barged inside the police post Ichgam and thrashed policemen.
The detained civilian has been identified as Mohammad Ashraf, a mason by profession.
Family members of Ashraf said that he in not involved in any unlawful activity. “My son is innocent. I want his release,” said a terrified mother of Ashraf.
Villagers said that forces also fired few shots in the air.
