DEPO Srinagar bags National Best Teacher Award

Srinagar: Advisor to Governor Khurshid Ahmad Ganaie has congratulated Ghulam Rasool Mir (Principal) for being nominated for Best Teacher Award 2017 by Ministry of Human Resources Development, Government of India, New Delhi.

In his congratulatory message, Advisor has said that the Awardee teacher should be an inspiration for the teachers to work with full dedication.

Secretary School Education Rigzin Samphel, DSEK Dr. G.N. Itoo and other education fraternity have also congratulated Ghulam Rasool Mir for the honor.

Secretary School Education and DSEK have said that this is a matter of pride for the State, particularly for the Education fraternity.

Pertinently Ghulam Rasool Mir has been nominated for the Best Teacher Award for the year 2017. This was announced by Ministry of Human Resources Development, New Delhi according to which the 45 Awardee Teachers have been selected for the honor this year and they shall be awarded a certificate of merit, a cash prize of Rs 50, 000 and a Silver medal each, which shall be presented to them by Vice President of India on 5th September 2018 at Vigyan Bhawan, New Delhi.

The Awardee from Jammu and Kashmir, Ghulam Rasool Mir has served in many capacities in the Department. He belongs to a remote and educationally backward area of Thandipora Dardpora Kupwara and was appointed as teacher in Department of Education and got promoted as lecturer in Chemistry in 1988.

Ghulam Rasool Mir served in different higher secondary schools of Kashmir Division and taught Chemistry at +2 level in Higher Secondary Schools like BHSS Tral, BHSS Charari Shareef, MPML Higher Secondary School Srinagar, BHSS Batamaloo and S P Higher Secondary School Srinagar.

During the 22 years of his service as lecturer, Ghulam Rasool Mir has always got brilliant results. He was promoted as Principal in 2010 and posted in BHSS Khaag, District Budgam.

He was incharge of the CM’s Super 50 Coaching Centre at Srinagar this year and the results obtained were better than the previous years. He is presently working as District Education Planning Officer, Srinagar.
