Calls for strengthening SDRF, F&E services

SRINAGAR, AUGUST 14: Secretary, PHE, Disaster Management, Relief, Rehabilitation and Reconstruction (DMRRR), Farooq Ahmed Shah today held a meeting to review the functioning of the department.

Chief Executive Officer Jhelum & Tawi Flood Recovery Project, Vinod Sharma, Director Finance DMRRR, Zahoor Ahmed Wani, Director Disaster Management Aamir Ali, Addl. Secretary, Suraj Rakwal and Deputy Director Planning, Ved Prakash besides other officers of the department including Disaster Management Professionals were present in the meeting.

Farooq Shah implored the officers to work with dedication, devotion and sincerity. He directed that all matters related to Disaster Management should be taken up on priority. He stressed on the need to equip and train the State Disaster Response Force and Fire & Emergency Services so that their capabilities are enhanced and they can respond faster in the event of any disaster.

He assured that the Divisional and Districts level officers will be further strengthened, as they are the primary stakeholders in matters related to mitigation and management of disasters.

Secretary also took stock of the status of various projects being funded by the JTFRP, World Bank and gave specific directions to ensure that the field agencies expedite the works.

Earlier, Director Disaster Management gave a detailed power-point presentation, about the functioning of the Department and mile-stones achieved by DMRRR, till date.
