Aspirants say KU forcing them to accept 2+2=6; seek governor's intervention

Srinagar, Aug 02: Despite of taking more than four months to declare the results of Jammu and Kashmir State Eligibility Test (JKSET), the Kashmir University (KU) has failed to rectify the errors in the official answer key that it released on 19th March.

A group of JKSET candidates told ‘Kashmir Images’ that the results were declared on the basis of a flawed answer key. “We were taken aback when we saw the flawed answer key with the result notification on 16-07-2018.”

They said that there were several objectives, particularly in the General paper I, which were answered wrongly in the final answer key.

For instance, according to aspirants, in General paper series W, the answers of question No 6 and 18 were incorrect. “We have a valid proof that the answers of these questions uploaded by KU are absolutely wrong.”

Shabir Ahmad, a candidate said that despite of apprising the concerned authorities about the issue several times they did nothing to rectify the errors.

He added that due to the negligence of KU, many aspirants were declared unqualified. “There are many candidates who fall short of only one MCQ to qualify JKSET. We could have easily qualified JKSET, if KU had updated the correct answer key.”

The aspirants said that the incorrect answers are in the subjects of Chemistry, Commerce, Education, Physics and others.

They added that the JKSET exams were conducted on March 11 and the first key with full of errors was uploaded on March 19. “We submitted our grievances regarding the flawed key in March following which KU rectified few errors only.”

Aghast candidates exclaimed that KU has now declared results without even fully rectifying the answer key.

They also accuse JKSET Coordinator of ignoring the genuine grievances of the candidates. “Instead of accepting our grievances, Coordinator Sahab is compelling us to accept their mistakes. He is also compelling us to accept that two plus two is six.”

While demanding intervention of Governor N N Vohra, aghast candidates said, “We request Governor Sahab to look into matter.”

When contacted JKSET Coordinator, Irshad Ahmad Nawchoo, he did not respond to the repeated calls of this reporter.
