Students turn traffic volunteers in Budgam

Budgam, July 17: Blowing whistles while clearing traffic from the roads, the students of government Girls Higher Secondary School (GHSS) Budgam managed traffic movement for a few hours on the narrow roads here in the township on Tuesday.

The “Traffic Regulation and Management Drive” was organized by GHSS wherein they urged upon the people to obey the traffic rules.

Around 30 girls of GHSS along with 12 staff members participated in the drive. Students were deployed at many places and were seen clearing traffic.

Bashir Ahmad Bhat, a teacher of GHSS told ‘Kashmir Images’ that the event was first of its kind and the motive was to prevail a civic sense among people here.

A student, Farhat Rasheed said, “These kinds of events are very important. Besides managing traffic, we informed drivers about the necessity of following traffic rules.”

Meanwhile, Deputy Commissioner Budgam, Dr Syed Sehrish Asgar appreciated the participation of students in the drive.
