Debarring SSA, Head teacher, RMSA teachers from 7th pay commission, gross violation of civil service conduct rules: EJAC

Sriinagar:  An important meeting of Jammu and Kashmir Teachers Forum was held at Central Office Srinagar under the chair of President EJAC who is also Chairman Teachers Joint Action Committee, Abdul Qayoom Wani and discussed the strategy about the peaceful protest March announced by Teachers Joint Action Committee from Sher-i-Kashmir Park to Raj-Bhavan on 17th of  July regarding the implementation of 7th pay commission to SSA teachers/headteachers and RMSA Masters and linking of their salaries with state sector, a press release issued here said.

The meeting decided that thousands of teachers from all the three regions of the state under the banner of Teachers Joint Action Committee shall participate in this ‘historical’ protest under the leadership of Abdul Qayoom Wani to press for their genuine demands and rights.

While addressing the meeting, Wani said that debarring SSA teachers, headteachers and RMSA masters from 7th pay commission was a gross injustice and unacceptable to teaching fraternity and alleged that it was Governments unnecessarily harassment. “The nation builders are in mental trauma and can no longer believe on hollow assurances because of delay tactics regarding these issues and until these issues are resolved, teachers Joint Action Committee shall continue its struggle and shall not compromise under any circumstances/” Wani said.

Stating that teachers did not want any confrontation or wasting precious time of the students but circumstances, Wani said, were created by the government by violating civil service conduct rules by not implementing 7th pay commission in favour of SSA teachers,  headteachers and RMSA masters. The press release further said that Wani urged upon all the state,  Provincial,  District,  Zonal leaders and volunteers of teachers forum to make ‘Sher-i-Kashmir Park Chalo’ programme a grand success and directed the cadres to maintain highest order of discipline during the peaceful protest and obey the directives of leadership.

“The protest March from Sher-i-Kashmir Park will start on 17th July 2018 at 11.00 am and will proceed peacefully to Raj-Bhavan where a memorandum regarding these issues will be submitted to the His Excellency Governor of the state,” Wani was quoted saying in the press release.
