Man injured in landmine blast in Uri

Baramulla, Jul 10: A man was critically injured when he stepped over a landmine near a forward military post in frontier Uri area of north Kashmir’s Baramulla district in Tuesday.

Locals said that Abdul  Hamid Lone, son of Abdul Rashid Lone, a resident of Rachawali village of Nambla was  critically  injured in the landmine explosion in near Rustum Post near LoC in Uri sector where he was cutting grass there.

The injured  person was rushed to Sub District Hospital Uri wherefrom doctors referred him to a Srinagar hospital for the specialised treatment, a relative Abdul Rashid said.

SDPO Uri, Mehraj Din Raina while confirming the incident  said that the injured was cutting grass for domestic animals when he stepped on the landmine.

The landmines are laid along the LoC to prevent infiltration of militants from across the border and sometimes these get carried away due to rains.
