Man critically injured when he stepped over landmine at LoC in Uri

Baramulla: A man was critically injured when he stepped over a landmine Rustum post- Line of Control (LoC) in frontier Uri area of north Kashmir’s Baramulla district in Tuesday.

Locals said that Abdul  Hamid Lone son of Abdul Rashid Lone a resident of Rachawali village of Nambla was  critically  injured in the landmine explosion in near Rustum Post near LoC in Uri sector where he was cutting grass

The injured  Hamid was rushed to Sub District hospital Uri where doctors referred him Srinagar hospital for the specialised treatment, a relative Abdul Rashid said

He informed that the device exploded when he stepped over the landmine.

SDPO Uri Mehraj Din Raina while confirming the incident  said that the injured was cutting grass for domestic animals when he stepped on the mine.

The landmines are laid along the LoC to prevent infiltration of militants from across the border and sometimes these get carried away due to rains triggering landslides.
