Internet services snapped in parts of Kashmir; restrictions to remain in force on Sunday
Srinagar, Jul 7: Authorities on Saturday suspended the Mobile internet services in most parts of Kashmir what they termed as a precautionary measure to maintain law and order.
According to reports, the decision to suspend internet services was taken in the wake of three civilian deaths, killed in forces firing in Kulgam district of Jammu and Kashmi.
The services have been suspended in Anantnag, Kulgam, Pulwama and Shopian districts in south Kashmir, a police official said.
He said the services were also barred in Srinagar and Budgam districts in central Kashmir.
Meanwhile, the high-speed internet facility on mobile devices was reduced to 2G in Ganderbal district of central Kashmir.
Pertinently, authorities have imposed restrictions in parts of Kashmir, while security has been beefed up across the Valley against the backdrop of second death anniversary of Hizbul Mujahideen commander Burhan Wani.
Meanwhile, an official in the district administration said that restrictions would be imposed in areas falling under the jurisdiction of Khanyar, Nowhatta, Safa Kadal, Maharaj Gunj, Rainawari, Kralkhud and Maisuma police stations on Sunday.
