LeT refutes police version on Bukhari killing
Srinagar, Jun 30: Refuting the police charge of involvement of Lashkar-e-Taiba (LeT) cadres in the killing of senior journalist Shujaat Bukhari, the militant outfit Saturday said police version about the assassination was no less than a “Bollywood thriller”.
Quoting the outfit chief Mehmood Shah, an LeT spokesman said the claims made by J&K Police regarding the “martyrdom” of Shujaat Bukhari resemble “some Bollywood thriller”, GNS news agency reported.
“For the past few days, two stories were released. The first was a drama story released by Indian Army regarding the ‘surgical strikes’; the second one was no less than a Bollywood thriller and was released by J&K Police regarding the assassination of esteemed journalist Shujaat Bukhari,” he said in a statement.
Shah, while taking a dig at Indian Army chief Gen Bipin Rawat and IGP Kashmir SP Pani, asked the duo to “ seek a career in Bollywood where your potential can be utilized to its fullest because you have made a laughing stock of yourselves”.
Addressing a press conference on Thursday, Pani had said that four Lashkar-e-Toiba militants were involved in the assassination of “Rising Kashmir” editor Shujaat Bukhari.
