3 days on, Internet services remain barred in Budgam

Budgam: On the third consecutive day today, high-speed Internet services remain blocked in Budgam district in the wake of dispute a over mosque here in Magam area.

High-speed 4g and 3g services were suspended on Sunday after few people were injured in the scuffle between two groups.

Sources in Magam said that shops in few areas are shut and 144 CrPC is in place to maintain law and order situation.

Meanwhile, student community and other people demand that the ban to be revoked in other parts of the district and called it “unnecessary and unjustified”.

“If problem was in Magam area why government is engulfing whole district in it?” Questioned Imtiyaz, a student.

While talking to Kashmir Images Dr Sehrish said that snapping Internet was not an administrative decision, it was a security decision.

She added, “I have insisted that today it should be restored as early as possible.”

When asked that if the problem is confined to Magam area only, why Internet was barred in the whole district, she replied, “That is what I have told them (Police). If services aren’t restored till afternoon, I will talk to them again.”
