Srinagar: Legislators of Congress party have said that Bharatiya Jananta Party’s decision to pull out of the alliance with Peoples Democratic Party in Jammu and Kashmir is an opportunistic move ahead of 2019 Lok Sabha elections.

In a statement issued here, JKPCC senior leaders and legislators including MLA Sopore and party Vice President, Haji Rasheed Dar, MLA Bandipora, Usman Majeed, MLA Devsar Mohammad Amin Bhat and Vice President and MLC G N Monga said: “This unholy alliance between the two parties was destined to break. But because of this unholy alliance and the wrong policies of both the Central and the State governments in the last more than three years, the state has been pushed into a quagmire and uncertain situation”.

They said that there is a chaos and confusion everywhere while the security situation has not only deteriorated in the state, but the borders as well. The killing of civilians and security personnel has gone up during the last more than three years of PDP-BJP rule.

“Both the parties are equally responsible for the present unrest in Kashmir and can’t evade the responsibilities of their wrong doings by ending the alliance. The policies of the BJP, which had a huge mandate at national level, have completely proven to be a failure in Jammu and Kashmir. The state has been polarised due to the communal politics played by the BJP over the last three years,” they said.
