Bhaderwah, Jun 13: A 52-year-old woman and her 26-year-old son were today killed when the vehicle they were travelling in fell into a 200-feet gorge in Doda district, police said.

Maana Daie and her son Mukesh Kumar from Chattra village in Bhaderwah were on their way to the tourist destination of Padri Meadow on Bhaderwah-Chamba interstate road, they said.

As the vehicle reached Khanni top, 24 km away from Bhaderwah, it skidded off the road while negotiating a steep turn and fell into a gorge, Assistant Superintendent of Police Rajinder Singh said. Seven other passengers including three women and two young boys, believed to be relatives of the deceased, were injured, they added.

The mother-son duo was declared brought dead while four of the injured were in “critical” condition, police said.

The district administration has requisitioned for a chopper to airlift them to a hospital in Jammu for specialised treatment, they added.
