Srinagar, Jun 05: Crime Branch Kashmir today booked a land broker for duping a Srinagar resident by producing a fake power of attorney .
“The suspect lured the complainant by showing a power of attorney on the basis of which the complainant entered into an agreement with the suspect and induced the complainant to pay an amount of Rs 30 lakh in advance for buying 60 kanals of land at Pampore,” a statement of the Crime Branch said.
However, after obtaining the said amount, the suspect did not hand over the possession of the said land nor did he return the amount to the complainant, the statement added.
It said that the power of attorney shown by the suspect was not executed by the actual owners, and instead was a “fake and forged one”.
“The acts omitted and committed prima-facie disclose commission of offences punishable and thus a case was accordingly registered and investigation started,” the statement said.
