Officer among two BSF troopers killed as India, Pakistan trade fire on Jammu Sector

Jammu, June 3 : Two Border Security Force (BSF) troopers including an officer  were killed in alleged Pakistani shelling at Aknoor sector of Jammu region late Saturday nigh, days after Indo-Pak DGMOs decided to implement the 2003 ceasefire agreement in letter and sprit.

A senior BSF officer told GNS that an Assistant Sub-Inspector (ASI) SN Yadav, 48, and Constable VK Pandey, 27, of 92 bn BSF were injured critically in Pakistani firing in the sector.

Both the injured were immediately evacuated to nearby military hospital where both of them later succumbed.

He said that the fire was retaliated and the cross border shelling continued for several hours.

Meanwhile, another official said that the heavy cross-border shelling raged in RS Pora and Samba sectors also.

He said that Pakistani army targeted many civilian areas in these sectors.

Pertinently, the DGMO’s of both India and Pakistan had agreed to implement ceasefire in letter and spirit during talks on hotline last week. (GNS)
