Srinagar, May 12: With resident doctors at the Sher-e-Kashmir Institute of Medical Sciences (SKIMS) Soura going on strike, patients at this premier tertiary care hospital have been left to suffer.

The resident doctors association (RDA) of SKIMS called for an indefinite strike on Friday against non-fulfillment of their demands regarding removal of pay anomaly.

The strike has affected all hospital facilities, including emergency, resulting in great inconvenience to patients, many of whom had come from far-off places to seek treatment.

Though hospital authorities claim that a roaster of faculty members had been put in place to cater to critical areas, but they too concede that many surgeries have been cancelled while the emergency block of the hospital too has been closed.
