Cordon and search operation in Drangbal concludes

Baramulla, May 04: Cordon and Search Operation launched by the government forces in Drangbal village in the outskirts of Baramulla town which continued for the second day on Friday and ended in the evening.

Locals said since yesterday security forces had sealed all the entry and exit points of the area and nobody, including the school children, were allowed to move around.

An official said that a joint team of Army and Special Operations Group (SOG) of Jammu and Kashmir Police launched the search operation in the area after receiving inputs about the presence of militants in the area.

Locals said that a large number of troops were deployed in the area and door-to-door searches were conducted.

“Forces including Army’s 46 RR, CRPF and SOG of police continued combing in Drangbal area of north Kashmir’s Baramulla today after suspending it for the night,” an official said.

Sources said drones were also used to locate the “hidden militants” in Drangbal.

Meanwhile, the operation was called off Friday evening as forces were not able to locate any militants in the area.
