Kulgam school holds ‘Save the Water’ programme
Kulgam: As the world is busy debating imminent global water crises, a private school at Yaaro-Noorabad in district Kulgam Friday held an awareness programme themed as ‘Save the Water’.
All the students from nursery to 8th standard of Shah-e-Hamdan Mission school Yaaro participated in the event that was aimed at enlightening people about the ‘water crisis’.
Holding placards which read ‘Jel hai tou kal hai’, ‘save water save life’, ‘Water is precious’ and ‘Paani zindagi hai’, the children marched through the streets of neighboring villages in order to raise awareness among people about the current global water crises.
Talking to Kashmir Images, principal of the institution, Ashiq Hussain Pala, said that he believes educational institutes can play an important role in raising an awareness among people about issues like water crises and global warming.
“Every drop of water is precious but the greed in people has lead the degradation and pollution of water bodies. So, the educational institutes should take responsibility to educate and aware the people for saving water,” Pala said.
An English teacher of the institution, Sartaj Ahmad, said that water comes to public in purest form but people pollute it because they are not aware about its repercussions. “It is duty of every individual to take a stand and spread a word to save water,” said Sartaj.
Aanisa Gulzar, a 8th standard girl student said that we should save water so that the people do not face scarcity of water in future.
